Here is the first commercially available version of a paraboloidal drum. After numerous prototypes have been produced, this is a successful mechanical implementation of paraboloid math.
The result is an extremely light instrument (about 1 kg) with really excellent sound characteristics. The body is made of durable plastic. The striking surface is made of strong and very thin weather-resistant drumhead material, which is very easy to tension and tune with the included wrench and the sturdy chrome-plated tensioning mechanism. It supports the maximum achievable, excellent and distinctive sound of this percussion instrument with its sensitive swinging characteristics. It works like a giant microphone.
Of course it stands out visually too, by its exact mathematical shape. The futuristic design underlines: Here, the drum was really reinvented new in the 21st Century!

The model was called Diamond, because the technical name 285U1A1Vr050 is a bit bulky for everyday use. The upper part of the drum reminds me of a set diamond.
Here is the tuning key for tensioning and tuning the clubface.
I took it with me on a trip to Vietnam. Could not resist to take a picture when I saw this statue...
No problem for the diamond. Let it dry and on it goes...
